New Year and so many plans, as usual!

The new year again finds me with many projects to finish and plans for learning new things and improving my skills! I got 4 new books for Christmas, 15 Minutes for Play by Victoria Findlay Wolfe, Beyond the Square Crochet Motifs, Geek Chic Crochet, and Design, Create and Quilt by Rosé Hughes. Plus, I received a gift card for Amazon (do my friends know what I need!), and bought 3 books from them, Out of the Box with Easy Blocks from Mary Lou Weidman and Melanie McFarland, How to Make  Journal of Your Life, and One Drawing a Day. So much inspiration and so many plans!!
So, I started with the drawing book and here's today's drawing, a simple pen drawing. It has been a long time since I drew more than a simple cartoony drawing for work posters. Those were fun, simplistic, focused. I'm hoping to expand my skills, and revive my drawing.

New year, new quilts!

So many quilts, so little time to quilt seems to be the story of my life right now. I'm continuing to work on several quilts at once, as usual. I have a quilt cut out for a friend's baby, one I'm making for the spare room, very modern, Split Decision in Jovial jelly roll, and my 4 patch posie still not done. When I get the backing finished, I'm ready to send out 2 quilts to my quilter, Shirley Stauffer, a Jelly roll fast quilt and my Art Deco quick quilt. I will post pix if Blogger lets me!
That is the main reason that it's been so long since I posted here. I can't seem to get my pix downloaded. Very frustrating. DH, of course, would do it for me, but stubborn me, I want to do it myself so that I know how to do it!!

Nightowl posts more crazy quilt squares!

So here are three more crazy quilt squares. These have already flown the coop, on their way to my Yahoo group members of the Sparkly Chickens! I really like the little star bead with the face on it on the black and white square. I'm not sure which months these are for. I've lost track of which ones I've claimed to have made these for!
I'm adding in a picture of a quilt that I made from a layer cake from Moda, "Rouenierries". I used a pattern from Pam Lintott's book, 'Layer Cakes, Charm Squares and Jelly Rolls.' The book has lots of good ideas and pretty selections of fabric. I'm all about the fabric! I love the tiny 4" house blocks set wonky!
Till next time, chickadees! Keep quilting!

A few more pix of CQs

The focus fabric on this one is a fave with me. I love all different types of buttons. They remind me of digging through my mom's and aunts' button boxes.
I used some recycled ties for this CQ. They have a lot of cool patterns. Both sides usable for different light or dark pattern.
So here are 4, yes 4!, crazy quilt squares. Woohoo!! and likewise, Woot woot! The top CQ is my May entry, the 2nd is for December, the 3rd for September, and the 4th for November. The last pic is my cute grandkid Fiona who was with me when I took the last set of pix. She has her daddy's eyes!

Medium tech quilter meets blogging!

So I'm trying to post a few CQs ready for showing. More later when grandkid Fiona is not on my lap! The top one could be for Sept., the middle for Feb., and the bottom one for June.

It's November already!

The year is whooshing past again. This time last year, I was getting ready to do my Bead Journal project. Well, time ran away from me as usual. The only beading I've done is on my Crazy Quilt squares. I will try to post a few here to show how they are coming along. They will have to count for the Bead Journal project, just as Sara, Sparkly Chicken friend, is counting hers! Which I will have to post later, since I just discovered that I have no SD slot in my new laptop! Quel horror!

Later, chickadees!
